In the third ODI between India and Sri Lanka (IND vs SL) being played in Thiruvananthapuram, Virat Kohli scored the 46th century of his ODI career. Kohli scored his second century of this year and the 74th of his international career. With this century, he made two big records of legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar.

Virat has broken Sachin Tendulkar’s record of scoring most ODI centuries on home soil. While playing in India, Tendulkar scored 20 ODI centuries in 160 innings, while Kohli achieved this record by scoring 21 centuries in 101 innings. Kohli had not scored a century in India since 2019 but he equaled Tendulkar’s record by scoring a century in the first match of the current series and managed to break that record in the third ODI.

Virat Kohli also broke another record of Sachin Tendulkar with his century. In ODI cricket, Kohli has left behind Tendulkar in scoring the maximum number of centuries against a single opposition team. Tendulkar had scored 9 centuries in his ODI career against Australia, but Kohli scored a century in the third ODI against Sri Lanka, scoring his 10th ODI century against them and taking this record to his name. After Sri Lanka, Virat has scored the most ODI hundreds against the West Indies with 9.

At the same time, during this match, Virat Kohli also left behind Sri Lankan legend Mahela Jayawardene in terms of scoring the most runs in ODI cricket. While Jayawardene had 12650 ODI runs, Kohli has more than 12700 runs and has come fifth in the list of highest run-scorers.
