Bangladesh cricket team all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been appointed as the captain of the team for the Asia Cup 2022 and the T20 World Cup till 2022. Shakib Al Hasan is currently the number one all-rounder in ODI cricket and the number two all-rounder in T20 cricket. The Bangladesh Cricket Board has shown confidence in 35-year-old veteran all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, making him the captain of the team for the two important tournaments ahead. Apart from this, the board has also announced a 17-member team for the Asia Cup 2022.

Bangladesh has not won the Asia Cup title even once
A total of six teams will take part in the Asia Cup 2022 and out of which Bangladesh has been placed in Group B along with Afghanistan and Sri Lanka. In the Asia Cup, Bangladesh has to play its first group match against Afghanistan on August 30, while against Sri Lanka this team will take the field on September 1. Bangladesh team has not won the Asia Cup title even once.
Although this team was definitely runner-up three times. Bangladesh’s team reached the finals in the years 2012, 2016 and 2018, but had to settle for second place. In the last season of Asia Cup i.e. 2018 also, this team reached the final, but this team was defeated by 3 wickets in the final at the hands of India and the dream of becoming the champion of this team was shattered.
