Rishabh Pant captained Team India for the first time in T20 International cricket, but his start was not good and he was defeated by 7 wickets at his home ground Delhi. Of course, Pant’s debut as captain in international cricket was disappointing, but he definitely made a special record and broke the record of former Team India captain MS Dhoni.

Rishabh Pant became the youngest wicketkeeper to captain India in international cricket. Pant made his debut as captain against South Africa at the Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium in Delhi on Thursday. He became the captain of India at the age of 24 years 248 days and broke Dhoni’s record. In fact, before Pant, MS Dhoni was the youngest wicketkeeper to captain India at the international level. Dhoni captained India in the year 2007 against Scotland at the age of 26 years and 68 days. Now Pant has come at number one in this case while Dhoni has slipped to number two. Whereas Rahul Dravid is at number three on this list.

-24 years 248 days – Rishabh Pant v South Africa (2022)

-26 years 68 days – MS Dhoni v Scotland (2007)

-29 years 314 days – Rahul Dravid v West Indies (2002)

Suresh Raina is the youngest captain of India

The youngest captain to captain India in T20 International cricket was Suresh Raina, who captained the team at the age of 23 years and 197 days, while Rishabh Pant has now come at number two. MS Dhoni came at number three on this list.

24 years 248 days – Rishabh Pant

26 years 68 days – MS Dhoni
