Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) President Ramiz Raja has confirmed a triangular T20 series in New Zealand ahead of the World Cup starting in October in Australia. He said that this series will be important to get used to the conditions to play in Australia during the T20 World Cup.

Before the T20 World Cup, a tri-series between hosts New Zealand, Pakistan, and Bangladesh was planned. Speaking to the media, PCB Chairman Raja confirmed the Babar Azam-led team’s participation in the tournament in New Zealand.

Ramiz said that the team had gone to Australia a month before the 1992 World Cup. We have enough chances to plan against the local team. I am behind the PCB’s international department to make sure our team can play six to seven matches before the World Cup. New Zealand’s pitches also have bounce and speed, playing matches there will benefit the team.

It is expected that the triangular competition will start in the first week of October where the teams will play each other twice before the final of the competition. Notably, Pakistan will also host England for seven T20 matches in September. The series is expected to start on September 15.
