Tri-Series at Nepal

Nepal is competing with the home team the USA today in the Cricket World Cup League Two involving Nepal, the USA, and Oman. The game will start at 9:15 pm Nepali time at Mosa Cricket Ground in Pearland.

Both have played one game in the series but had different results. Nepal lost the first match by 13 runs to Oman. The United States beat Oman by a wide margin in the first game.

While the United States is aiming to maintain the rhythm of the first game, Nepal will be looking for victory. The United States won the first game against Oman by 114 runs, scoring more than 300 runs. Nepal, on the other hand, could not meet the target of 212 runs set by Oman.

When playing against the USA, Nepal needs to improve its batting from the opening. Regular opening pair Asif Sheikh and Kushal Bhurtel were injured during training in the United States. But the pair did not start well. Therefore, batting has become a headache for Nepal. Apart from Arif Sheikh who scored 66 runs, other players were able to bat memorably.

Nepal needs a lot of improvement in batting to win the series for the first time.

Head to head

This is the third series between Nepal and USA in League Two. Earlier, these two teams played four games in League 2. In which Nepal is ahead. Nepal has won 3 games while the USA has won 1 game.

Nepal had lost by 6 wickets in the last match of the league series against the USA in Oman in September 2021. Steven Taylor scored 92 and Monak Patel scored an unbeaten 38 while Nepal completed the target of 175 runs set by the USA in 30 overs. Nine players, including Kushal and Asif, who played that game, are still in the Nepali team that went to the United States.

Before that, in the series held in Nepal in 2020, Nepal had defeated the United States in both games. In the second match, Nepal bowled out the USA for 35 runs and set a record. This was the lowest score ever made by a team in a one-day international.
