Australia’s leading spin bowler Nathan Lyon has made a big name for himself. He has come at number 10 in the list of bowlers who have taken the most wickets in Test cricket. With his excellent performance against Sri Lanka, he has made it to the top-10 list.

Australia defeated Sri Lanka by 10 wickets in the first test match played in Galle. Batting first, Sri Lanka was bundled out for just 212 runs in the first innings. In reply, Australia took a big lead by scoring 321 runs in their first innings. Sri Lanka scored only 113 runs in the second innings and the Kangaroo team got the target of just 5 runs which they achieved in just 4 balls.

Nathan Lyon had a big contribution to this tremendous victory of Australia. He took 19 wickets overall in the match. Lyon took 5 wickets in the first innings and 4 wickets in the second innings. After his stellar performance, he has joined the top-10 list of bowlers with the most wickets in Test cricket.

Nathan Lyon now has 436 wickets in 109 Test matches. He is currently at number 10 in the list of highest wicket-taker bowlers. He is just 3 wickets behind Dale Steyn at number 9. On the other hand, veteran Indian spinner Ravichandran is 6 wickets behind Ashwin.

Let us tell you that the record of taking most wickets in Test cricket is in the name of former Sri Lankan legendary spinner Muttiah Muralitharan. Muralitharan took 800 wickets in 133 matches in his Test career. During this, he achieved the feat of taking 5 wickets 67 times and 10 wickets 22 times in a match.
