Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Balendra Sah (Balen) has been seen as positive to support the development of cricket from the grassroots. Manager Khanal of the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) met Mayor Balen and informed him about the need to develop Nepali cricket from the grass root.
Mayor Balen, who is interested in sports, also said that he was positive about the proposal from CAN and would discuss it further with the general manager. CAN has been holding Kathmandu Mayor’s Cup cricket tournament with the financial support of Kathmandu Metropolitan City. CAN General Manager Khanal had informed Mayor Sah about the three proposals.
Discussions were held on setting up two nets in each school for the development of cricket from the first school, the second to select the best players from the same school and form their own team in the Mayor’s Cup and the third to make a mayor’s parapet on the ground. Khanal said, “We will discuss this with Pabson and Npabson and move on.”
Khanal said that there is a plan to work on the ground after doing policy work first.
