Australia beat New Zealand in the last over, and will face India in the final

In the second semi-final of the Commonwealth Games 2022, Australia defeated New Zealand by 5 wickets and entered the final. Australia will face India in the final on 7 August, who defeated England in the first semi-final. Playing first, New Zealand had scored 144/7 in 20 overs, in response to which Australia won by losing five wickets in the last over.

After losing the toss, New Zealand’s start was not good Suzy Bates was out without opening the account and Georgia Plimer scored 17 runs. Captain Sophie Devine (53) shared a 73-run partnership with Amelia Kerr (40) for the third wicket and took over the team, but New Zealand did not even reach the score of 150 after their dismissal. Megan Schutt of Australia took three and Tahlia McGrath took two wickets.

Australia also got early setbacks in response to the target, but Beth Mooney scored 36 and Tahlia McGrath scored 34 runs to lead the team to victory. Ashley Gardner scored an unbeaten 19 and combined with Grace Harris (8*) to give the team victory with three balls to spare. Lee Taihu took three wickets for New Zealand.

New Zealand will now face hosts England for the bronze medal on 7 August.
